Electric Western will be bringing their wildly successful rock and roll dance party to Austin, spinning a hand-selected mix of the most danceable popular and obscure 50s and 60s Rock and Roll, Doo Wop, Girl Groups, and Garage Rock. GQ Magazine crowned Electric Western hosts of "America's Most Stylish Party."
Houndmouth - New Albany, IN
Easily one of our favorite new records of 2015, Houndmouth's sophomore album Little Neon Limelight comes out March 17 on Rough Trade Records. We recently caught the band in Nashville at 3rd & Lindsey where they didn't disappoint, combining smart songwriting and a high-energy set. They're playing Letterman at the end of this month and damn, all four members can sing.
Favorite new track: "For No One"
Futurebirds - Athens, GA
Currently prepping a new release in the works, are well known for a rowdy live show. Fronting a sound that might have originated in a 70s-80s psychedelic dream where Beach Boys harmonies join R.E.M.’s country-ish strum with Phil Spector at the controls. We can't wait to see what the new tunes coming down the pipe sound like.
Favorite track: "Serial Bowls"
Magic Giant - Venice, CA
Introduced to us by our friends Jason Kramer and company over at KCRW Santa Monica, this budding indie-folk pop outfit is fronted by an accomplished songwriter, Austin Bis, who has established himself over the past few years by penning and producing songs for David Guetta, Steve Aoki, and Big Time Rush, among others.
Favorite track: "Glass Heart"
Andrew Combs - Nashville, TN
Combs is an American Songwriter staff favorite whose newest album All These Dreams (Coin/Thirty Tigers) dropped this week with a 4 star review to boot. "Not only does every song hit the mid-late ’70s LA rock and countrypolitan (think Glen Campbell at his most straightforward) mark, but the production by Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson perfectly captures the windswept tunes and somewhat darker lyrical spirit of Combs’ material."
Favorite new track: "Long Gone Lately"
Boom Forest - Nashville TN
One of Nashville's most promising up-and-comers, Boom Forest is the project of veteran indie-folk troubadour JP Roney. He spent much of 2014 wrapping up a yet to be released full length record that features guest appearances from Mikky Ekko, PHOX, and Adam Duritz.
Favorite track: "Baby Teeth"
